How it Happened

• Brandon Garcia paced the men in the early race, the Gold Division, placing 255th overall in 24:59.9.  Ryan Russell finished shortly after, in 261st in 25:01.8.
• North Carolina won the team title, scoring 64 points to outpace Villanova's 100.  The Tar Heels had the top two finishers in the race in sophomores Parker Wolf (23:02.4) and Patrick Anderson (23:04.4).
• The men's scoring gap was 1:06.2
• For the eighth-straight race to start her career, Tess Fitzmaurice crossed the line as UAlbany's top finisher in the Gold Division, placing 126th in 21:03.5.  Amanda Chambers was UAlbany's second finisher, placing 215th in 21:34.7.
• North Carolina won a tight women's race, scoring 63 points, just ahead of Georgetown's 67 in second place.  Utah Valley senior Everlyn Kemboi won the individual title in 19:33.0
• The women's scoring gap was 1:12.0.
• The Paul Short Run is the first time this season the women will compete at the 6K distance, and features the largest competitive field of the year.  Both the men's and women's Gold races featured 46 teams and 416 finishers.
