GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany has competed in four races in preparation for the America East Championship.
- The best finish for both teams came at the Hopkinton Cross Country Festival. Competing against 11 other teams, the Great Danes both finished second.
- Freshmen Arianna Verardi and Owen Stachlik have consistently led their respective teams.
- Verardi has been the top women's finisher in all four races with two top ten placements - Hopkinton Cross Country Festival (fourth) and Marist Invitational (sixth).
- Stachlik has competed in three races with his best finish coming at the Marist Invitational (fifth).
- Hannah Steiner and Aiva Pinches have consistently scored for the women while Nikolas Christian and Jerry Lewis have earned points for the men in each race. Christian was the men's top finisher when Stachlik did not compete.
- On the women's side, Olivia Snodgrass, Cara Mastan, and Jaymee Yelton have also scored. On men's side, four additional runners have secured points for their team throughout the season - Shane LaFountain, Gabriel Spanbauer, Isaac Graber, and Devin Finn.
MOST RECENTLY AT HOPKINTON FAIRGROUNDS
- The Great Danes participated in the Hopkinton Cross Country Festival in preparation for the 2025 America East Cross Country Championships.
- UAlbany was the only America East team at the race on October 10.
- Arianna Verardi (19:36.44) and Hannah Steiner (20:17.71) provided top 10 finishes for the Great Dane women while Aiva Pinches (20:27.07) and Cara Mastan (20:42.34) finished the 5k close behind within the top 15.
- On the men's side, four runners finished in the top 20 for the 8k. Owen Stachlik (25:59.46) led with a 13th-place finish; Nikolas Christian (25:59.85), Devin Finn (25:59.86), and Jerry Lewis (26:06.89) followed in 16th, 17th, and 18th place, respectively.
2024 AMERICA EAST CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
- In 2024, the New Hampshire women took home their first title since 2019 and the UMass Lowell men won their fifth consecutive title.
- Individually, River Hawk Mary-Kate Finn won her second-straight title while Luke Marsankis, a Black Bear, won on the men's side.
- The UAlbany women finished fifth overall with three top 20 finishes - Skyler Smith (15th), Katie Iocca (16th), and Tess Fitzmaurice (20th).
- Returning student-athletes Hannah Steiner, Bonnieta Supaul, and Cara Mastan all competed for UAlbany in 2024.
- The UAlbany men finished seventh overall. Jed Elmbarki led the team with a 17th-place finish.
- Returning student-athlete Nikolas Christian was the Great Danes' fifth finisher and final scorer in 2024. Additional student-athletes who will be competing at the 2025 championship include Devin Finn and Jerry Lewis.
