Mora Herencia Represents Women's Track and Field at National Championship

ALBANY, N.Y. - Beatriz Mora Herencia makes her national championship debut to represent the UAlbany women's track and field team as a javelin thrower at the NCAA National Championship, June 12.

LAST TIME AT NATIONALS
  • The UAlbany women sent two competitors to the national championship in 2024.
  • Both graduate student Ludith Campos (hammer throw) and freshman Amelia Benjamin (high jump) earned Second Team All-American honors with 15th-place finishes.
  • Before Campos and Benjamin, current UAlbany Director of Operations, Venique (Harris) Brown placed sixth in the discus throw at the NCAA Championships in 2019. She graduated as a First Team All-American and the Great Dane record holder.
 
2025 NCAA REGIONALS
  • Beatriz Mora Herencia was one of six regional qualifiers for the UAlbany women, and one of 10 UAlbany total qualifiers. 
  • One of four Great Dane rookies, she entered the regional competition 22nd in the NCAA East and 49th in the nation. She qualified for nationals with a top 12 finish at the regional meet. 
  • With each throw, Mora Herencia increased her distance. Her third throw, 49.42m, was just 10 centimeters away from a personal record.
  • Finishing her flight second overall and waiting through the final flight, a group of 12 throwers, Mora Herencia earned her chance at All-American status with the final qualifying spot.
 
TRACKTOWN USA
  • This year's NCAA Championships are to be held at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field. 
  • A world-famous track, Hayward Field is a staple in the professional and collegiate track and field community. Often hosting national and international meets, Eugene is known to be the home city for many USA Olympic Trials, USATF National Championships, and other world-class events. This year, TrackTown USA will host the Nike Outdoor Nationals and USATF U20 Outdoor Championships, the Prefontaine Classic, and the Toyota USATF Outdoor and Para National Championships after the NCAA Championships.
  • 2025 will be the second consecutive year Oregon, and Hayward Field, will host the Division I National Championship.
  • Hayward Field will be the home of the NCAA Division I Championship for the next four years (through 2028).
