Beatriz Mora Herencia, UAlbany javelin record holder, ended an incredible rookie season at the NCAA Championships.
KEY NOTES
- Beatriz Mora Herencia appeared at the national championships as one of just three freshmen in the 24-person field. She was the only freshman in her flight.
- She is the second freshman in UAlbany women's track and field history to become an All-American. Amelia Benjamin, a high jumper, was the first in 2024. Two men have been All-Americans as freshmen - Joe Greene (400mH) (2006) and Adrian Mitchell (Javelin) (2017).
- Mora Herencia is the first UAlbany woman to earn All-America status in javelin. Marc Palozzi was the first man to earn the national award for the men's track and field team in 2006 and 2007. Mitchell is the most recent, and second, man with All-American honors in javelin.
- Sixth in the flight, Mora Herencia threw just over 40 meters on her first attempt (40.59m).
- Improving on her first, the rookie sent the javelin 43.76 meters for her second throw.
- Marking a 43.83-meter throw, Mora Herencia made her final throw her best of the day.
