Palumb Repeats as America East Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – For the second consecutive week, University at Albany men's lacrosse student-athlete Jackson Palumb has been named the America East's Rookie of the Week.

Palumb Rookie of the Week

Palumb scored two goals against Bryant on Saturday night underneath the Casey Stadium lights. His second goal came with under two minutes remaining in the game, tying the score at 12-12 after the Great Danes had been trailing since early in the third. The rookie from East Syracuse added an assist for a three-point performance as well as a ground ball.

Last week, Palumb scored two massive goals while adding an assist and three ground balls in a huge 14-13 road win over UMBC. His first goal came with just 1:47 remaining in the game with UAlbany down 13-12, going low to beat the UMBC keeper and tie the game at 13-13. After knotting up the score, Palumb once again found the ball in his stick in the game's final moments. He beat his defender on a one-on-one matchup on the right side of the net, blowing by and burying the game-winning goal top-shelf with just 5.5 seconds on the clock – winning the game for the Great Danes.

Palumb has totaled 11 goals and three assists for the Great Danes this season, making five starts as a true freshman.

The Great Danes are set to travel to NJIT this Saturday for a matchup with the Highlanders in Newark, New Jersey.
