Short Story: The University at Albany men's lacrosse team took care of business on Saturday afternoon, taking down America East rival UMBC 10-6 on the road to move to 2-0 in conference play.
 
Key Stat Lines  

• Brady Smith finished the afternoon with 11 saves for a .647 save percentage.
• Silas Richmond collected another hat trick, finishing the day with four points after adding an assist as well as two ground balls.
• Seven different Great Danes each finished with one goal, including the first of the year for Alex Pfeiffer, Kevin Carney, and Justin Lee with the long pole.
• Brady Quill and Max Neeson each finished with two caused turnovers. Neeson had two ground balls, Quill had one.
• Austin Oppenheim went 8-15 at the X, CJ Schwarz went 2-3, and James Reid went 1-1.

 
How it Happened:  

• UMBC opened the scoring with a goal from Ryan Demato three minutes into the game.
• The Great Danes responded with back-to-back goals from Koleton Marquis and Alex Pfeiffer over the next two minutes.
• The Retrievers tied the game shortly after on another score from Demato, but UAlbany's Kevin Carney scored his first of the year moments later to re-take the lead.
• With five minutes remaining in the first, Silas Richmond scored his first of the afternoon to increase the lead to 4-2.
• Demato capped his hat trick with 4:38 remaining, but UAlbany's Ben Wimmer pushed the lead back to two goals before the end of the first quarter.
• The second quarter started with back-to-back goals for UAlbany off the sticks of Ryan Doherty and Wally Swiney, 7-3.
• The only other goal of the second quarter came with 3:23 on the clock on a goal from UMBC's Dante Marinello to make it 7-4 heading into the half.
• Richmond scored the first goal of the half five minutes in. Nine seconds later, Justin Lee scored with the long pole to push the lead to 9-4.
• The UAlbany defense did not allow a goal in the entire third quarter.
• The first goal of the fourth came at the 12:35 mark from UMBC's Connor Chick, 9-5.
• UMBC made it 9-6 with 4:37 remaining on another from Chick.
• The final goal of the afternoon came off the stick of UAlbany's Richmond with just 1:01 on the clock to make it 10-6.
