How it Happened:
- UMBC opened the scoring with a goal from Ryan Demato three minutes into the game.
- The Great Danes responded with back-to-back goals from Koleton Marquis and Alex Pfeiffer over the next two minutes.
- The Retrievers tied the game shortly after on another score from Demato, but UAlbany's Kevin Carney scored his first of the year moments later to re-take the lead.
- With five minutes remaining in the first, Silas Richmond scored his first of the afternoon to increase the lead to 4-2.
- Demato capped his hat trick with 4:38 remaining, but UAlbany's Ben Wimmer pushed the lead back to two goals before the end of the first quarter.
