Last Time at the Battle in Beantown
September 24, 2021 | UAlbany last competed on September 24 at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown at Franklin Park in Jamaica Plain, Mass. Franklin Park will host the NCAA Northeast Regional XC Championships in November. For the third-straight meet,
Antonio Beltran and
Tess Fitzmaurice were the top UAlbany finishers for the men and women, respectively.
Â
Replenishing
Both the men's and women's teams will need to replace their top performers from the 2022 season.Â
Brandon Garcia and
Antonio Beltran, the men's top-two finishers at America East XC Championships a year ago, have graduated, leaving
Jared Rogalski, the Great Danes' third runner last year, as the top returning men's performer. The women will compete without two of their top three performers from 2022 in
Tess Fitzmaurice, and
Noreen Guilfoyle.Â
Amanda Chambers, UAlbany's second runner last season, is the women's top returner.
Â
Schedule Note
Once again, the 2023 UAlbany cross country schedule does not include a home meet. Traditionally held in the middle of October, the Great Danes will make a return visit to IC4A and ECAC XC Championships, which last year moved into October from its traditional spot in November. The last time the cross country team hosted a home meet was during the 2021 season.
Â
Next: The Great Danes begin championship season on October 13 at the IC4A and ECAC XC Championships.
