Last Time at Van Cortlandt Park
October 14, 2022 | The Great Danes returned to IC4A & ECAC XC Championships for the first time in more than a decade, and to Van Cortland Park for the first time in six years. Â
Tess Fitzmaurice highlighted the weekend once again, placing first among UAlbany competitors in the women's race for the ninth-straight time to start her career. The men saw sophomore transferÂ
Ryan Russell claim the team's top finish for the first time in his career, followed by freshman Kirk Dawkins 13 seconds later.

Last Time at Northeast Regionals
November 12, 2021 | UAlbany ended the 2021 season with the NCAA Northeast Regional XC Championships at the famed Franklin Park in Jamaica Plain, Mass. The women placed 26th overall, scoring 790 points, led by then-freshmanÂ
Tess Fitzmaurice placing 118th in 22:52 over the 6K course. The men, competing in their first 10K of the season, fielded three competitors, led byÂ
Antonio Beltran placing 148th in 33:46.
Â
All-Conference
Tess Fitzmaurice and
Amanda Chambers each earned top-10 individual finishes in the women's championship 5K race at the 2022 America East XC Championships in Baltimore, Md. Fitzmaurice finished ninth overall in 17:38.7, and Chambers finished right behind her in 10th in 17:43.7. Both times represented personal bests for Fitzmaurice and Chambers, and their places in the individual standings earned America East All-Conference Second Team honors. They are the first All-Conference performers for the women since Kelly Iocca during the 2020-21 spring season.
Â
10-for-10
In each of her first 10 races to start her UAlbany career,
Tess Fitzmaurice has been the top finisher for the Great Dane women. The streak began with her third-place overall finish in her career debut in 2021 at the Siena XC Invitational, and continued through her five subsequent meets that season. And through the first four races of 2022, Fitzmaurice's streak has continued, most recently placing 9th overall at America East XC Championships.
Â
Top Returners
Both the Great Danes men and women return their top performers from the 2021 season.Â
Antonio Beltran and
Tess Fitzmaurice were the top finishers for the UAlbany men and women, respectively, in each race they competed last season.

Schedule Note
The 2022 UAlbany cross country schedule does not include a home meet. Traditionally held in the middle of October, the Great Danes instead will travel to Van Cortlandt Park for the IC4A and ECAC XC Championships, which moved up a month from its regular spot on the calendar in November after regional championships. In electing to attend this meet, the team will have a chance to preview the Northeast Regional XC Championship course, where they will compete in November.
Â
Next: Qualifying teams and individuals will advance to the 2022 NCAA XC Championship meet in Stillwater, Okla. on November 19.
