SALT LAKE CITY – After delay due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Premier Lacrosse League will finally embark upon its second season with an altered schedule starting July 25 and culminating with its championship game on August 9.

Seven former Great Danes hold roster spots among three of the leagues' seven teams. UAlbany is most highly represented on the Chaos, counting Miles Thompson, Connor Fields, Blaze Riorden, and Troy Rey as roster members. Ty Thompson and Brett Queener play for the Chrome, and Kyle McClancy plays for the expansion Waterdogs.

The Whipsnakes claimed the inaugural season's title, defeating the Redwoods in the championship game 12-11 in overtime.Â

Last season UAlbany hosted one of the PLL's weekend series, which saw the Atlas defeat the Chaos 12-9, the Redwoods defeat the Chrome 18-7, and the Archers defeat the Whipsnakes 11-8. In the first game that weekend, Thompson scored twice, while Reh, McClancy, and Fields each scored once for the Chaos, and Riorden made 13 saves. Later, in the weekend's second game, Queener made 18 saves

Fields finished the 2019 season ranked third in the league with 33 points. Former Great Dane goalkeepers Queener and Riorden finished third and fourth, respectively, in save percentage, with Riorden leading the league in total saves. Riorden was also name the league's inaugural Goalkeeper of the Year, earning All-Pro honors alongside Fields.

All games in the 2020 PLL season will be broadcast on either NBC, NBCSN, or NBC Sports Gold.
