Men’s Lacrosse Rolls Over Binghamton

Short Story:
 The University at Albany men's lacrosse team remains unbeaten in America East play after a dominant showing against the Bearcats. 
 
Key Stat Lines  
  • Silas Richmond and Ryan Doherty led the team with four goals each.
  • Richmond had a team-high seven points on four goals and three assists.
  • CJ Schwarz, Cade Galko, and Max Neeson shared the team-high four ground balls each.
  • Schwarz went 8-13 at the X.
  • Jacob Smith finished with five caused turnovers, three ground balls, an assist, and a pole goal. 
  • Brady Smith recorded seven saves and only allowed three goals.
 
How it Happened:  
  • The Great Danes opened the scoring with a goal by Ryan Doherty, assisted by Jackson Palumb, five minutes into the game. Both players returned to action after missing time with injuries.
  • Binghamton responded two minutes later on a goal by Andrew Girolamo, but UAlbany's Silas Richmond answered back to push the score to 2-1.
  • With three minutes left in the first, the Bearcats tied the game on a score by Gavin Jacobsen.
  • The second quarter started with back-to-back goals by Richmond, completing the first half hat trick and pushing the lead to 4-2.
  • With six minutes left in the second, Binghamton scored on a goal by John Angelicola.
  • The Great Danes responded by collecting back-to-back goals from Kevin Carney and Doherty, pushing the lead to 6-3.
  • UAlbany continued to increase its lead as the Great Danes scored another pair of goals by Carney and Cade Galko, making it 8-3 going into halftime.
  • 30 seconds into the third, Richmond found the back of the net, assisted by Brendan O'Keefe.
  • Doherty scored UAlbany's second hat trick of the game two minutes into the quarter, three minutes later, he scored again, 11-3.
  • The Great Danes furthered the advantage, going on a three-minute run with goals from Alex Pfieffer, Jacob Smith, and Palumb, which pushed the lead 14-3.
  • The UAlbany defense did not allow a goal in the entire third quarter.
  • With ten minutes left in the game, Binghamton stopped the bleeding from a goal by Girolamo.
  • Another set of Great Dane goals, courtesy of Koleton Marquis and Jack Hadden, added to the demolition of the Bearcats, 16-4.
  • The final goal of the afternoon came off the stick of Binghamton's Nico Spaziani with just 55 seconds left on the clock.
