Blaze Riorden, Ty Thompson and Joe Resetarits Named to U.S. Indoor National Men's Lacrosse Team Tryout Pool

US Lacrosse Release - 2015 U.S. Indoor Tryout Pool Announced
BALTIMORE – U.S. Lacrosse has announced that UAlbany goalkeeper Blaze Riorden and alumni Ty Thompson and Joe Resetarits have been invited to the U.S. Men's Indoor National Team player pool to tryout for the upcoming 2015 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Indoor Championship next month.
Riorden, Thompson and Resetarits are three of 31 U.S. players invited to the training camp, which will be held at the Westminster School in Connecticut. 18 players will be selected to the final 18-man roster on August 23rd for the FIL World Indoor Championship, which will be held on the Onondaga Nation and in Syracuse from September 18-27th.
Riorden serves as UAlbany's goalkeeper but will be trying out for the team as a forward. He is a forward in box lacrosse during the summer months, currently playing for the Akwesasne Indians in the Ontario Junior B Box Lacrosse League alongside UAlbany attackman Seth Oakes. In 11 playoffs games played for Akwesasne this season, Riorden has 17 goals and 16 assists. He has been UAlbany's starting goalkeeper the past three years and was nominated for an ESPY for his goal scored end-to-end against Cornell in the NCAA Tournament.
Thompson will also try out at forward after being one of the top UAlbany attackmen in program history. Playing for the Great Danes from 2011 to 2014, Thompson scored 154 goals, currently ranking fifth in program history, and 195 total points. He was drafted by the New England Black Wolves into the National Lacrosse League (NLL) last season and played for the Nepean Knights in the Ontario Junior B Box Lacrosse League during the summer, scoring 17 points in 13 games.
Resetarits is one of the most decorated attackmen in UAlbany history, earning America East Player of the Year in 2012, and will try out at forward. He finished his collegiate career with 125 goals and 169 total points from 2009-12. He is a four-year veteran of the NLL, currently playing for the Rochester Knighthawks. In 2015 between Rochester and Buffalo, he finished with 20 goals and 28 assists, grabbing 55 loose balls. He led the team to the East Division Finals in 2015.
Back in 2011, UAlbany alum Brett Queener was chosen as a goalkeeper reserve for the U.S. Indoor Team that won the bronze medal in the world championships.
The nations that are slated to compete in the 2015 FIL Indoor Championship are Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, England, Finland, Germany, the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Nationals), Ireland, Israel, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and the United States.
