BOSTON – The University at Albany men's lacrosse student-athlete
Jacob Smith has been named the America East Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.
Â
Smith had an absolutely dominating day against Binghamton on Saturday. The LSM from Milford, Ohio, collected a team-high five caused turnovers, also scooping up three ground balls. Smith added an assist on a goal from
Silas Richmond and scored a pole goal himself to cap the performance. The UAlbany defense as a whole kept the Bearcats to just five goals, a season low for the Great Danes, with Smith as a major contributor.
Â
Smith and the Great Danes have two key home games coming up over the next week. The team will first host Vermont this Saturday as part of
Greatful Danes Day, a lacrosse doubleheader with a live musical performance from The Wheel between games. UAlbany returns to action the following Tuesday, April 14, at Casey Stadium for the LarGer Than Life game against Siena, celebrating the life and legacy of Liam Gleason. Tickets and parking for both contests can be
purchased here.
