Amherst, N.Y. - University at Albany's harrier Chris Burke finished 24th overall to lead UAlbany to a 18th-place finish at the NCAA Men's Cross Country Northeast Regional on Saturday, November 12th hosted by University at Buffalo at the Audubon Golf Course. The 10,000-meter course hosted 33 scoring teams and 240 participants for the men's division.
Averaging a 5:11-minute mile, Burke finished the course in 32:11.0 to be the first Great Dane clocking in. Junior Paul Lagno crossed the finish line just a few seconds later for 26th place (32:14.8). Five other UAlbany harriers finished the 10,000-meter course; Alex Leuchanka (33:30.5), Ethan Clary (34:27.1), R.J. Sniffen (34:28.0), Chris Buchanan (34:33.9) and Tyler Fogarty (34:48.8).
The individual title went to Leonard Korir from Iona as he finished in 31:10.4, pacing the second-place finisher by three seconds. Syracuse took the team title with three top-ten finishers to total 54 points.
The Great Danes will conclude their season competing in the IC4A Championship next Saturday, November 19th at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
