High School
Buchanan was a four-year letter-winner at Cicero North Syracuse, where he led his team to a Class AA State Championship as a senior and captain in 2010. He was an All-League selection in each of his four years of high school and was selected as an All-State athlete in 2009 and 2010.

Christopher Evan Buchanan is the son of Fred and Denise Buchanan. He has one brother, Byron. He intends to major in physics.
