Arianna Verardi led the Great Danes at the Marist Season Opener, Saturday morning.

KEY NOTES
- Combined, the Great Danes saw six freshmen compete in their first collegiate race with one transfer competing in his first event in purple.
- All returning men's runners improved vastly on their finish from 2024. Junior Isaac Graber went from 27th in 2024 to 11th in 2025. Redshirt-senior Steve Hines (62nd), sophomore Jerry Lewis (63rd), and sophomore Connor Hashim (75th) all earned top-35 finishes at the 2025 event.Â
- Sophomore Devin Finn made the biggest improvement going from a 65th-place finish to seventh place in 2025.
- Senior Skyler Smith tabbed her second consecutive top 10 finish at Vassar Farm.
- Three of the women's scorers were freshmen - Arianna Verardi, Aiva Pinches, and Olivia Snodgrass.
- The men's scoring gap was 21.0 seconds. The women's scoring gap was just over two minutes (2:00.9).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The men raced first in the season opener over a shorter course of 6k.Â
- Owen Stachlik finished first for the Great Danes. He covered the six kilometers in 19:41.2 for fifth place.
- Devin Finn made it two in the top 10 with a seventh-place finish in 19:42.7.
- Isaac Graber finished just outside the top 10 (11th) in 19:49.3.
- Jerry Lewis (14th, 19:51.2) and Nikolas Christian (19th, 20:02.2) rounded out the men's scorers with top 20 finishes.
- In her first race as a Great Dane, Arianna Verardi tabbed a sixth-place finish in 19:14.1.
- Skyler Smith rounded out the top 10 in 19:23.8.
- The final points on the women's side came from Aiva Pinches (25th, 20:49.0), senior Hannah Steiner (29th, 21:03.8), and Olivia Snodgrass (31st, 21:15.0).
