Northborough, Mass – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has named UAlbany goalkeeper Grace Cincebox the National Defensive Player of the Week.
Â
This is the first time this season that Cincebox has received a national weekly award from the IWLCA
The announcement comes after Cincebox anchored a Great Danes defense that secured a gritty 9-8 victory over Bryant on April 11 at Casey Stadium, keeping the team undefeated in conference play at 5-0 and improving their overall record to 10-4.
The Pittsford, N.Y., native delivered a masterful performance, recording a season-high 15 saves against a relentless Bulldogs offense that fired 35 total shots. Cincebox was particularly effective when the stakes were highest, turning away six shots in the fourth quarter alone to protect a slim one-goal lead, including a crucial save with 1:46 to play in the fourth that allowed the Great Danes to run the clock. Her ability to remain composed under pressure was further evidenced by her work against free-position opportunities, where she helped limit Bryant to just three conversions on seven attempts.
Finishing the contest with a stellar .652 save percentage, Cincebox marks her fourth double-digit save effort of the year and her highest total of the 2026 campaign. With this national recognition, she becomes the first Great Dane to earn IWLCA weekly honors this season.
