SHORT STORY: The UAlbany men's throwers highlight a meet in which the Great Danes added/improved three in the program's top 10, Friday & Saturday.

KEY NOTES

• The men's throwers dominated the competition - Frankie Gonzalez, Showayne Lumsden Jr., and Shane O'Neill swept the shot put, Maxim Kruk and O'Neill went one-two in the discus, and Qualiar Newton won the hammer throw. 
  • Gonzalez led the way, recording a personal best in the shot put that puts him second in program history. 
  • Lumsden Jr. followed, also with a personal record, that was good enough for sixth in program history. 
• Jacob Smith added his fifth mark in three months to the record book as he set the fifth-best time (14:22.66) in his first ever collegiate 5k.
• As a team, UAlbany recorded 12 first-place finishes. In only four events competed and finished, the Great Danes did not place the highest.
• Overall, the Great Danes had the top two finishers in eight events, which included Arlan Wright and Matthew DeCicco, a freshman one-two in the decathlon. In four additional events, UAlbany's top two performers finished first and third.
