EDISON, N.J. – University at Albany student-athletes
Thantita Aungsuseewong and
Jasmine Furstenburg have collected Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Weekly Awards, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. Aungsuseewong was named the Women's Golfer of the Week, Furstenburg was named the Women's Golf Rookie of the Week.

Both players recently took part in the Howard Lady Bison Spring Invitational, aiding the Great Danes to a first-place team win in a field of 13 schools. The match, held at the Hawkstone Country Club in Gainesville, Fla., featured schools such as Howard, Youngstown State, North Carolina Central, UMES, and Monmouth. UAlbany beat out second-place Howard by 14 strokes, finishing with a team score of +38 to Howard's +52. The field in total featured over 60 golfers.

Aungsuseewong led the entire field for a first-place individual finish. The senior from Nonthaburi, Thailand, shot rounds of -1, E, and +3 for an overall score of +2 – four strokes better than that of second place. She finished the weekend with seven birdies.

Furstenburg, a freshman from South Africa, finished the weekend with a strong 17
th place finish. She shot rounds of +4, +7, and +8 for a total of +19. She ended the tournament with three birdies on her scorecard.

The Great Danes are off for the majority of March, returning to action at the end of the month for a tropical outing at the Bermuda Triangle Collegiate at the Port Royal Golf Cub. The team will then battle at the Rutgers University Invitational in mid-April before heading to the MAAC Championship April 21-23.
