Short Story: The University at Albany women's golf team finished in third place at the 2026 MAAC Women's Golf Championship to end the 2025-26 season. Mia Cepeda was UAlbany's top performer, finishing in third place with a score of +1 overall.

The Great Danes finished day one in third place with a team score of +18, behind Quinnipiac (+11) and Fairfield (+13). Thantita Aungsuseewong led the entire field through the first round shooting an even par, shooting birdies on holes two and fifteen. Cepeda finished the first round at +5, while Madison Kuratani shot six over.

Day two saw the Great Danes shoot +14 as a team, holding tight in third place. Cepeda led the team in the second round, shooting two under par. She collected four birdies throughout the round on holes two, four, seven, and 15. Kuratani followed at +4 while Aungsuseewong shot +5.

Callie Taylor subbed in to play in round three and ended up having the best day of any Great Dane throughout the entire tournament. Taylor shot a 69, three strokes under par, finishing with four birdies and an eagle. Cepeda had another strong day following her day two performance, again shooting two under at 70. Aungsuseewong followed with a 71 and Esteban shot a 74, aiding the Great Danes to a team score of -4, which was the single lowest team round of the entire championship.

Overall, Cepeda led the team with an overall score of +1 for a third-place finish, followed by Aungsuseewong in fourth place after shooting +4.

Head Coach Colleen Cashman: "This week was certainly bittersweet! We unfortunately came out a little flat for the first two rounds. When we have only one player play well each of those days, the scores just won't be what's needed to put us at the top. Going into the final round, we knew that we would have to play super aggressive and career it to have a chance - and I couldn't be more proud of today's outcome. Shooting -4 as a team and having three individual rounds under par is an overall team record for our program history. Unfortunately, we came up a little short in the end. But, it definitely makes this championship taste a little better at the end of the day and I'm very proud of how they fought back and finished out! Golf is a funny game. Some days you got it, and some days you don't. Sadly, we just didn't have it this week. But that doesn't take away from the overall solid season that we did have with three team victories, a second-place finish, and two third-place finishes. I'm very proud of them!"
