The 2026 season marks a significant turning point for UAlbany football as the program officially welcomes
Tom Perkovich as the third head coach in program history. Coach Perkovich brings a distinguished record of success and a strategic vision designed to elevate the Great Danes within the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). His leadership signals a fresh chapter for the program, focused on championship-level standards and a renewed intensity on both sides of the ball. This transition offers season ticket holders the first opportunity to witness the Perkovich era firsthand at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.
Â
The 2026 home schedule begins with a historic primetime event. For the first time in program history, UAlbany will open the season at home on a Friday night, hosting New Hampshire on August 28. The Friday night opener under the lights is expected to provide a unique atmosphere for the Capital Region community, setting the stage for a compelling five-game home slate.
Â
Following the opener, the Great Danes return to Casey Stadium on September 19 to face Monmouth, followed by a non-conference matchup against former NFL All-Pro turned head coach DeSean Jackson and Delaware State on October 3.
Â
The 2026 home campaign concludes with two pivotal CAA matchups. On October 31, UAlbany hosts Campbell for a first-ever meeting between the two programs. The home schedule draws to a close on November 14 against Maine, continuing a long-standing rivalry between the two schools.
