ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany Football team hosted its inaugural Lift for Life on July 16, partnering with Uplifting Athletes to raise awareness and critical funds for the more than 30 million Americans living with a rare disease.

Lift for Life is the signature fundraising event of Uplifting Athletes, giving student-athletes the opportunity to use their strength to create hope beyond the game. The Great Danes competed with purpose while raising funds to support rare disease research and life-changing experiences for individuals and families impacted by rare diseases.

As UAlbany launches its first-ever Lift for Life, the team joins a growing network of student-athletes across the country who are using their platform to make a lasting impact. More than just a workout, Lift for Life is an opportunity to unite the UAlbany community around a cause greater than football and show individuals and families impacted by rare diseases that they are not alone.

"We're excited to welcome UAlbany Football to the Uplifting Athletes community through their first Lift for Life," said Uplifting Athletes Chapter Success Manager Andrea Baker. "It's inspiring to see a new team step forward and use their platform to make a difference. Their leadership will help raise awareness, create hope for families impacted by rare diseases, and demonstrate the incredible impact student-athletes can have beyond the game."

This year's campaign has a fundraising goal of $10,000, and every donation directly supports Uplifting Athletes' mission to harness the power of sport to build a community investing in lives impacted by rare diseases.
