Powers Named Pitcher of the Week

BOSTON - The University at Albany's softball's Kate Powers was named the America East Pitcher of the Week, announced Tuesday.

Pitching two complete-game shutouts, the redshirt-senior allowed zero earned runs in 11.1 total innings pitched. Powers struck out 12 batters with two wins and a save in a 4-0 week for the Great Danes.

A native of Hope Valley, Rhode Island, this is Powers' second career weekly award, first of the season. As a team, the Great Danes have earned six weekly awards from the conference - Player of the Week (April 1 - Frederick; March 18 - Taylor Quinn), Pitcher of the Week (March 11 & 18 - Hayley Wieczerzak), and Rookie of the Week (March 18 - Ava Beal).

UAlbany returns to action as they host Siena (Apr. 10) before heading to UMBC (Apr. 12-13) to continue conference play.
