BOSTON - UAlbany softball's
Hayley Wieczerzak has been named the Pitcher of the Week by the America East Conference, announced Tuesday.
A native of North Brunswick, New Jersey, Wieczerzak pitched during both wins of the series victory at UMass Lowell (Apr. 25-26) and the win at Colgate (Apr. 21). After throwing nine strikeouts in six innings for the win at Colgate, she added a 14-strikeout, nine-inning complete game victory to kick off the weekend series at UML. With her third start of the week, she added four strikeouts in 4.2 innings during the rubber match against the River Hawks. Overall, Wieczerzak threw 27 strikeouts in 19.2 innings.
This is Wieczerzak's second Pitcher of the Week honor this season, fourth of her career. It is the team's ninth weekly award this season: Player -

The Great Danes return to action at Maine (May 1-2) for their final regular-season games of the season.
