BOSTON - The University at Albany softball's Caitlyn Frederick was named the America East Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.
 
A senior from Bethlehem, Pa., Frederick led the team with seven hits for a .778 batting average through the Great Danes' first weekend at home. Nearly hitting for the cycle, she totaled five singles with one double and one triple while driving in three runs and scoring six. Continuing to prove why she leads the conference in stolen bases, she totaled five in five attempts against Bryant.
 
As a team, the Great Danes now have five weekly awards on the season. This is Frederick's first career Player of the Week nod.
 
UAlbany returns to action today at CCSU for a midweek doubleheader at 2 pm before hosting UMass Lowell this weekend (Apr. 5-6).
