Women’s Lacrosse to Host No.1 Boston College and Vermont This Week

ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany women's lacrosse will take on the No.1 Boston College Eagles this Wednesday at 3:00 pm, as well as the Vermont Catamounts this Saturday at 12:00 pm. Wednesday game will be UAlbany's Mental Health Awareness Game partnered with The Hidden Opponent with Saturdays contest being the first conference game for the Great Danes along with Kids Day and Taylor Swift Day.

Leading the Pack 

  • Coming into Wednesday's contest, UAlbany is 1-5, 1-3 at home, and 0-2 on the road. 
  • Mikaela Mooney leads the Great Danes with 19 points.
  • Dylana Williams holds a team-high with 12 goals.
  • Mooney has tallied a team-high nine assists. 
  • Paisley Cook has recorded the moat draw controls of any Great Dane with nine. 
  • Mile Delilah leads UAlbany with 10 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. 
  • Quinn McCarthy has totaled the most time in net with 182:47 minutes

Scouting Boston College 
The Eagles are 8-0 after defeating No. 20 Notre Dame on Saturday. As a team, Boston College has recorded 148 goals and 80 assists on 297 shots and 220 shots on goal for a .741 shots-on-goal percentage. 33 goals came from free positions, while 17 have come from a woman-up. The Eagles are 33-57 on free positions. Boston College has recorded 105 ground balls, 77 turnovers, and 65 caused turnovers with 137 draw control wins and is 128-136 on clear attempts. 

Rachel Clark leads the Eagles with 36 goals and 45 points while also recording four ground balls. Mckenna Davis is atop the team with 23 assists while Shea Baker leads the team with 14 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. 

Previously vs. the Eagles 
Feb 14, 2024 | UAlbany fell to the No.2 Eagles 15-7. Grace McCauley scored a team-high three goals, followed by Courtney Rowe with two and Paisley Cook and Bryar Hogg with one each, all unassisted. Grace Cincebox spent the game in net, recording 14 saves and a team-high five ground balls. Boston College outshot UAlbany 39-18 and outdrew the Great Danes 16-9. 

Scouting Vermont 
The Catamounts are 3-4 on the year after beating LIU on Sunday. Vermont Started the year with two wins before losing four straight. Saturday's contest will be the first conference matchup for both teams.  As a team, the Catamounts have recorded 70 goals and 35 assists on 213 shots and 91 shots on goal for a .601 shots-on-goal percentage.  

Lynda Doraz leads the team with 18 goals and 25 points, while also recording 12 ground balls. Claire Alelhelm leads Vermont with 11 assists while recording seven ground balls. Defensively, Anna Rosenberger is atop the Catamounts with 18 ground balls while Kendall Traveis leads with seven caused turnovers. 

Previously vs. Vermont 
Mar 24, 2024 | UAlbany beat the Catamounts 17-7. Katie Pascale led the team with six points (two goals, four assists) and four ground balls, and tied with Mackenzie Salentre for the team lead with two caused turnovers. Following close behind were Gracie McCauley and Mikaela Mooney with five points each. McCauley led the team with five goals while Mooney scored once and tallied four assists. Haley Phalines led the Great Danes with 12 Draw controls.

Last time out
March 8, 2025 | UAlbany fell to No.25 UConn 15-4 on Saturday. Ava Poupard found the back of the net twice and Mikaela Mooney and Dylana Williams each scored once. Mooney led the squad with two assists and four points. Kennedi Landrigan led the Great Danes with four ground balls, Emma Torkoff tallied a team-high four caused turnovers, and Williams and Paisley Cook led with three draw controls.  

UConn outshot UAlbany 24-19. In clear attempts, the Huskies were 21-23 while the Great Danes were 16-19. 

Schedule Strength
Once again, the Great Danes will boast one of the toughest schedules in the country.  Highlighted by the presence of two of four 2024 Final Four teams, including both national champion Boston College and Opening the season against Semi-Finalist Syracuse, UAlbany's 2025 schedule features four teams that earned berths into the 2024 NCAA Tournament, three 2024 conference champions, and three teams ranked in the final media poll of 2024.  Four future opponents ranked in the top 25 of the 2025 Inside Lacrosse preseason poll.
