Story of the Red Bandanna
The tournament honors the memory of Welles Crowther (BC '99) - "The Man in the Red Bandanna." Crowther, who died in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, was an equities trader with Sandler O'Neill on the 104
th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center. A volunteer firefighter in Nyack, N.Y., Crowther spearheaded a rescue effort from the Sky Lobby on the 78
th floor and is credited with saving more than a dozen lives. Survivors recalled being saved by a man wearing a Red Bandanna. Crowther had worn a Red Bandanna, given to him by his father, Jefferson, since he was a child growing up in Nyack, N.Y. He carried it wherever he went and, while a student-athlete at BC, he always wore one beneath his lacrosse uniform.

Head Coach Colleen Cashman
"Boston College has been a staple on our schedule for probably a decade now, but I've never pulled into Blue Hill CC without players who have played the course before. This year will be a first. Our youngest lineup ever, I believe, starting the tournament with three freshman and two sophomores. We are looking forward to some nice weather and hopefully plenty of birdies. Excited to watch all of these golfers compete together and hoping for a really fun outcome! Callie and Mia led the way in our first tournament and I'm sure they are ready to go once again! It's really nice to be able to be able to give each of the players on the roster a chance to compete in the first couple of tournaments. Off to Boston we go!"
