ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany head women's lacrosse coach
Katie Thomson has announced the hiring of
Katie Pascale ('24) in the role of assistant coach ahead of the 2025 season.
"We are thrilled to have Katie join our coaching staff and continue to positively impact the program." Said, Coach Thomson. "Katie brings so much energy, passion, and competitive spirit every day; and her experiences and perspective as a recent alumna of the program will be valuable as she helps guide our players in all aspects of their lives."
Pascale returns to UAlbany having spent her previous four years as a member of the women's lacrosse program in which she holds school records in career points (307), assists (144), and draw controls (342), as well as single-season records in points (92) and draw controls (139).
"I'm so honored and grateful to continue to be a part of such an amazing program." Pascale commented. "This opportunity is such a privilege, and I look forward to working with this incredibly talented group of individuals. As a proud alumna, I couldn't imagine starting my coaching journey anywhere else."
On top of her playing career, Pascale has coached club lacrosse for the Salt City Snipers over the past five years, along with coaching youth lacrosse in her hometown of Baldwinsville, N.Y.
Throughout her career, the former midfielder was the first member of the women's lacrosse program to win three major conference awards over her career. The list of awards Pascale has won during her time in the Purple and Gold ranks among the most extensive for any Great Dane in athletics history. An Inside Lacrosse Preseason and Midseason All-American, she was on the 2024 Tewaaraton Watch List, placing her in contention for national player of the year. A two-time All-America Honorable Mention, a four-time All-Region selection, and a two-time America East Midfielder of the Year. She's also been awarded America East Scholar-Athlete honors for women's lacrosse, identifying her as one of the most well-rounded student-athletes. Her academic and athletic excellence also earned her being named the school's first-ever Grand Collegiate Woman of the Year by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization.
In the spring of 2024, Pascale received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University at Albany.
