Vs. Cancer
The baseball team has joined with the Vs. Cancer program to defeat childhood brain cancer. They will be holding their annual Vs. Cancer game on Friday, May 3rd. Donations will fund family support and child life programs along with lifesaving pediatric brain cancer research.   • Luke Filippi finished the NJIT series with a .462 batting average and five RBIs.
  • Returning from injury, Jared Toby tallied a team-high six RBIs on the weekend while scoring five times.
  • Finishing the series against NJIT with five hits, Will Binder slugged three doubles and drove in four runs.
  • Matthew Mariano threw 4.2 scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts against NJIT on Saturday.
  • Making five appearances in conference play, Steven Turk has pitched to a 5.25 ERA across 12 innings.
 
Scouting Marist

The Red Foxes have gone 15-27 this season with an 8-10 conference record.
  • Opening their season on the road, Marist fell in the first two games of their series against Southern Mississippi (2.16-18) before winning game three.
  • The Red Foxes were swept by USF (2.23-25) and Columbia (3.1-3) but bounced back to defeat Fordham (3.6).
  • In their opening series against Southern Mississippi (2.16-18), Marist claimed game three for their first win of the season before being swept by USF (2.23-25) and Columbia (3.1-3).
  • After defeating Fordham (3.6) and Richmond (3.8-10) in two of three contests, Marist was defeated at Virginia Tech (3.12).
  • Losing the series against Radford (3.15-17), 1-2, the Red Foxes were defeated by FDU (3.20).
  • Defeating Saint Peter's (3.22-24) twice, Marist lost to Sacred Heart (3.26) and was swept by Niagara (3.29-30).

  • Ethan Conrad leads the way at the plate with team-highs in batting average (.381), RBIs (39), triples (12), and home runs (6).
  • Johnny Decker has been a menace on the base paths, swiping 19 steals.
  • Caleb Kempler has been dealing on the mound with a 2.86 ERA and 28 strikeouts across 22 innings.
 
Leading the League
The Great Danes have leaders in nine of the hitting categories, one of the pitching categories, and three of the fielding categories.
2024 Captains
Will Binder, Connor Eisenmann, and Cregg Scherrer will serve as the captains for the Great Danes during the 2024 season. Binder enters his third season with UAlbany after starting his collegiate career at LaSalle. Since joining the Great Danes, he has started in 89 games and has a .325 batting average. Eisenmann returns to UAlbany for his fourth season. Through 37 appearances for the Great Danes, he has recorded a 5.93 ERA with 121 strikeouts and a .254 batting average against. Scherrer is a redshirt senior from Skaneateles, N.Y., entering his fifth season with the team. Appearing in 44 games, including 34 starts, Scherrer has struck out 195 batters and owns a 5.73 ERA.
 
2024 America East Preseason Poll
  • UAlbany was picked to finish seventh in the 2024 America East Preseason Poll, earning eight points.
  • The Bearcats were picked to finish first in the conference with 35 points, including five first-place votes.
  • Maine, the defending champions, followed closely behind with 31 points and two first-place votes.
  • UMBC (26) placed third, NJIT (19) fourth, and Bryant (18) fifth.
  • UMass Lowell (10) and UAlbany rounded out the poll.
 
America East Standings

Bryant sits on top of the conference table being the only team with double-digit wins with 13. UMBC sits in second with an 8-7 conference record with UMass Lowell trailing close behind having gone 9-8. Tied in fourth with a .429 win percentage is NJIT and Maine. Binghamton and UAlbany round out the conference with the Bearcats holding a one-win advantage.
