Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team battled back to tie the game late, but Maine answered in the bottom of the seventh to take Friday afternoon's contest.

How it Happened:
- UAlbany opened the scoring in the second inning when Tre Mariano singled and later came around to score on a Jaxon Mueller RBI single through the left side to give the Great Danes a 1-0 lead.
- After Dylan Banner held Maine hitless through the opening two innings, the Black Bears broke through in the third. Following a fielding error and a pair of walks, Juju Stevens launched a grand slam to give Maine a 4-1 advantage. Later in the inning, Troy Carpenter added a solo home run to extend the lead to 5-1.
- The Great Danes chipped away in the fifth inning. Cooper Loyal singled before John Vitucci walked, setting up an RBI single from Patrick DeSarno. Later in the inning, Tre Mariano drew a bases-loaded walk to trim the deficit to 5-3.
- UAlbany tied the game in the seventh. Patrick DeSarno walked and Michael Maggio followed with a walk before Jaxon Mueller lined a two-RBI single up the middle to even the score at 5-5.
- Maine responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Juju Stevens worked a leadoff walk before Hunter St. Denis doubled into left center to put the Black Bears back in front. Troy Carpenter followed with an RBI single to make it 7-5.
- Victor Mazzara entered to pitch in the bottom of the eighth and retired the Black Bears in order to keep the deficit at two. UAlbany threatened after Justin Hurd singled and the Great Danes loaded the bases with two outs, but Maine escaped the inning without damage. The Black Bears closed out the ninth to secure the series victory.
Next: The Great Danes will finish out the regular season against Maine tomorrow, May 16 with first pitch set for 1:15 PM.
