BOSTON - The UAlbany softball team's
Morgan Petty and
Mary Kate Murray were honored by the America East, Tuesday.
A graduate student outfielder,
Morgan Petty was named the Player of the Week for the first time this season. Tallying a team-high nine RBI, she helped the Great Danes to a 4-1 weekend with a .938 slugging percentage. Notching three home runs total, she hit two - a grand slam and a three-run homer - back-to-back against St. Bonaventure (3/2).
Murray, a freshman infielder, was named Rookie of the Week for the first weekly award of her career. Starting in all five of the Great Danes' games on the weekend, she earned a .467 batting average with seven hits, including one double, and four RBI.
Following
Maddi Petrella's AE Player of the Week honor on February 27, these honors mark the second and third weekly awards this season for the UAlbany softball team.
The Great Danes are set to return to action on Saturday, March 9 at the MSM Softball Tournament in Maryland.
