BOSTON - The University at Albany women's basketball's Deja Evans was named the America East Rookie of the Week, announced Monday.
 
A native of Conshohocken, Pa., Evans returned from injury to average 12.0 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game as the Great Danes remained unbeaten in conference action. Adding a career-high six blocks against Maine, Evans' performance was essential in the win over Maine on Thursday (Jan. 25).
 
The team's seventh weekly award, this is Evans' fourth of the season. Her award is preceded by a mixture of the conference's weekly awards: Rookie of the Week (Deja Evans - 12.18 & 1.2) & Player of the Week (Cooper - 12.11 & 1.22; Evans - 1.2).
 
The Great Danes will continue at home by hosting their International Players' Night against Vermont on Thursday (Feb. 1).
