Stewart Wins Two Major Awards, Three Honored by America East

BOSTON - Amaya Stewart led three honorees from the UAlbany women’s basketball team with two major awards from the America East conference, announced Wednesday.

Amaya Stewart Major Awards 2026

A native of West Reading, Pennsylvania, Amaya Stewart was named both the Sixth Woman of the Year and the Rookie of the Year. Leading the team with 22 blocks and a .481 field goal percentage, Stewart finished the regular season second with 12.3 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game. Within the conference, she is top 15 in points per game and rebounds per game while ranking top five in field goal percentage. Throughout the 2025-26 season, Stewart totaled 15 games with over 10 points, including six games over 20 points. Her career-high of 25 points came against NJIT on February 19 with 11 field goals and three free throws. She tallied a double-double against Dartmouth in November and one additional game (Bryant - Jan. 10) with double-digit rebounds. The rookie standout started her career with an impressive 17-point, eight-field goal, four-block game against Marist (Nov. 4). Stewart was also named Third Team All-Conference and All-Rookie Team for her efforts.

Delanie Hill Third Team 2026

Sophomore Delanie Hill added a second all-conference honoree with a Third Team nod. The guard from Charlotte, North Carolina leads the team with 13.9 points per game, which is good for 10th in the league. Tallying a team’s third-best .431 field goal percentage, she is second on the team and fourth in the conference with a .376 three-point percentage. Her free throw percentage has consistently ranked among the best in the nation - she is currently first in the conference and 16th in the nation (.892). Overall, Hill has totaled double-digit points in 21 of 29 games this season; that includes four games with over 20 points and a career-high 33 points scored against Vermont on January 1. She recently surpassed 500 points as a second-year student-athlete. Hill is also second on the team with 70 assists and 33 steals. Her assists average is good for top 10 in the conference.

Martina Borrellas All-Defensive 2026

The third and final honoree is sophomore Martina Borrellas with an All-Defensive Team selection. Borrellas has consistently led the Great Danes in rebounds throughout the season. She finished the regular season with a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game, good for eighth in the conference. Her 2.2 offensive rebounds per game is tied for fifth in the conference while her 4.4 defensive rebounds per game is eighth. Borrellas has led the team in rebounds in over half of the season’s contests. She is one of just two guards on the All-Defensive Team and is also ranked seventh in the conference, second on the team, with a .466 field goal percentage.
