BOSTON – For the second-straight season, University at Albany women's lacrosse midfielder Katie Pascale has been selected as one of six America East Spring Scholar-Athletes, the conference announced Wednesday.
 
The America East announced its full list of six Scholar-Athletes for the spring 2023 season, with one representative selected for each of the conference's six sponsored spring sports.  Pascale, UAlbany's lone selection for the spring, represents the women's lacrosse program's 11th Scholar-Athlete, and fifth-straight.
 
Pascale, a rising senior from Baldwinsville, N.Y., had a season for the ages in 2023, rewriting the record books for both UAlbany and the America East.  She set UAlbany program career records in assists and total points, as well as the program's single-season record for draw controls won.  Additionally, Pascale scored 12 total points in the America East semifinal against New Hampshire, setting a new single-game program and America East Tournament record.
 
In 12 of Pascale's 20 games in 2023, she scored four or more points, and scored three or more in 15.  She ranked 11th nationally in total points and 12th in draw controls per game, while leading the America East in total points and assists.  She earned All-America Honorable Mention status from Inside Lacrosse for the second-straight season, and earned her first career America East Midfielder of the Year and America East Tournament Most Outstanding Player awards.
 
Academically, Pascale earned a 3.77 GPA studying Accounting, and was named to her second-straight America East All-Academic team.
 
To qualify as an America East Scholar-Athlete, an individual must be a starter or prominent reserve for their team and hold a GPA of 3.50 or higher.  Pascale now joins field hockey's Alison Smisdom and women's basketball's Helene Haegerstrand as a finalist for the America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, to be announced later this month.
