Short Story: Travis Williams breaks the men's 60m for the second time in a week at the 115th Millrose Games.

How it Happened
  • After his victory last week in the men's 60m at Harvard University's Crimson Elite Invitational, in which he set a school record of 6.64, Travis Williams was invited to compete in the UCS Men's 60m dash at the Millrose Games against a world-class field.
  • The men's dash featured current world record holder Christian Coleman (6.34) and reigning world 200m champion Noah Lyles, who last week ran a personal-best 6.51.
  • Williams drew lane eight against the field, with Coleman and Lyles in the middle lanes to his left.  After being called into the set position, the competitors were called up for a reset.  A second attempt saw Lyles called for a false start.  Finally, on attempt three, the runners got away clear.
  • Williams crossed the line in third place, behind Coleman and Lyles, in a personal-best 6.59, breaking the school record for the second straight week.  He edged Josephus Lyles by three one-thousandths of a second.  With Noah Lyles' false start, Williams ended up finishing second, just behind Coleman's winning time of 6.47.
  • Rori Lowe was also invited to the Millrose Games, to compete in the Sherri & Brett Miller Women's 300m.  In Lowe's race was Abby Steiner and Jenna Prandini.  Prandini won three NCAA titles at the University of Oregon in the mid-2010s, and Steiner more recently won four NCAA titles during her career at the University of Kentucky.  Both Prandini and Steiner run professionally for Puma, and won gold medals on the women's 4x100m relay at last year's World Championships.
  • Lowe Drew lane two with the rest of her heat to her outside.  She finished fifth in the race in 39.36, her second-best time in her career as a Great Dane, behind just her 39.12 set earlier this season at Boston University's Battle of Beantown.
Next: America East Indoor Championships begin February 18 at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston.
