Last Time Out
Three weeks after their 2022 season opener, the UAlbany men's and women's cross country program returned to action at Lehigh University's famed Paul Short Run.  Both the men and the women competed in the top-tier Gold races, with the women racing for the first time this season at the longer 6K distance.  The men's 8K race started first, and the Great Danes placed 45th in the team standing with Brandon Garcia leading the way for the team.  In the women's race, sophomore Tess Fitzmaurice paced her Great Danes' teammates for the eighth-straight race to start her career, earning a personal-best 21:03.5 finishing time, the sixth-fastest time in program history at the distance.

Last Time at IC4A & ECAC Outdoor Championships
November 19, 2011 | The Great Danes have not competed at IC4A & ECAC XC Championships for more than a decade, but the last time they were there they staked their claim atop the team results.  The women, led by individual champion sophomore Kathryn Fanning, won their second-straight ECAC University Division title by placing four runners in the top-30 finishers.  The men placed second in the IC4A Championship Division behind team champion Princeton, and were paced by fourth-place individual finisher Chris Burke.

Last Time at Van Cortlandt Park
November 11, 2016 | The last time UAlbany raced at the famed Van Cortlandt Park was for the 2016 Northeast Regional XC Championships.  Sophomore Cara Sherman finished first for the women's team, 91st overall in 22:14.60, followed by freshman Hannah Reinhardt in 106th in 22:22.10.  Sherman and Reinhardt would develop into two of the Great Danes' all-time distance runners over the remainder of their collegiate careers.  The men's race, their first and only 10K of the season, saw junior Ryan Udvadia place 95th in 32:33.52.  Like Sherman and Reinhardt, Udvadia would leave his mark on the men's distance program by the time his collegiate career ended.

Top Returners
Both the Great Danes men and women return their top performers from the 2021 season.  Antonio Beltran and Tess Fitzmaurice were the top finishers for the UAlbany men and women, respectively, in each race they competed last season.

Schedule Note
The 2022 UAlbany cross country schedule does not include a home meet.  Traditionally held in the middle of October, the Great Danes instead will travel to Van Cortlandt Park for the IC4A and ECAC XC Championships, which moved up a month from its regular spot on the calendar in November after regional championships.  In electing to attend this meet, the team will have a chance to preview the Northeast Regional XC Championship course, where they will compete in November.

Next: UAlbany heads down to UMBC for the 2022 America East XC Championships.
