Last Time Out
UAlbany joined six other America East teams at the 2021 America East Pre-Conference Meet in Durham, N.H., which will be the site of the 2021 conference championship meet.  For the second-straight week, Tess Fitzmaurice and Antonio Beltran were the top finishers for the women's and men's team, respectively.  The women finished fourth overall in the team standings, and the men placed seventh.  Binghamton comfortably swept the men's and women's team races.  Stony Brook, UMBC, and UMass Lowell did not participate in the meet.

Last Time at Battle in Beantown
As with most meets on the calendar, the last time the Great Danes compete at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown was during the 2019 season.  The women placed 18th overall in the 5K race, and the men placed 21st over 8K.  Hannah Reinhardt placed 24th overall in the women's race, running a season-best of 18:00.1, while Christopher Perillo paced the men's team, finishing 96th overall in a personal-best 25:58.8.

Back-to-Back
In the first two meets of the season, the Great Dane men and women have been paced by Antonio Beltran and Tess Fitzmaurice, respectively.  Both Beltran and Fitzmaurice were the top UAlbany finishers in the season opener at the Siena XC Invitational and the following week at the America East Pre-Conference Meet.  Fitzmaurice, a freshman, has taken over the top spot on the team from Kelly Iocca, who graduated in the spring, and from Hannah Reinhardt, whose eligibility was exhausted following the 2019 season, the last full season of competition due to COVID-19.

Opening Third
The UAlbany cross country teams opened the season locally in 2021 at the Siena XC Invitational.  Both the men and the women place third in the team competition, scoring 74 and 71 points, respectively.  Antonio Beltran finished first for the men, while freshman Tess Fitzmaurice paced the women.

Next: UAlbany does not compete again until October 15 when the team will host the 2021 R.K. Munsey UAlbany XC Invitational.
