Recap

Looking to rebound following their loss at #3 Syracuse earlier this week, the University at Albany women's lacrosse team returned to America East play on Saturday with a trip to Binghamton for the team's fourth-straight road game.  Two players, Kyla Zapolski and Madison Conway, carried the offensive load for the Great Danes, scoring four goals apiece to help lead UAlbany to a 19-8 victory to move to 2-0 in the America East.

More than four minutes passed in the first half before Binghamton notched the first score of the game.  The Bearcats went up 2-0 with 23:58 remaining in the first, before UAlbany scored each of the next five goals over seven minutes to lead 5-3 with 16:35 to go.  Conway scored three of UAlbany's first five goals, taking just under six minutes to do so.

Binghamton cut the lead to one with two goals in less than a minute, before UAlbany rolled off four in a row, including Conway's fourth with 13:08.  Zapolski scored two-straight about 90 seconds apart to record a hat-trick for the day in the first half.

Binghamton broke UAlbany's second run with a goal with 7:59 remaining in the first, before UAlbany responded just 55 seconds later with a goal from Kathryn Sancilio to take a 10-5 lead into the break.  Conway led all scorers with four goals at halftime, followed by Zapolski with three.  Binghamton had narrowly outshot UAlbany 20-19 in the first 30 minutes, but UAlbany had won 11 draw controls compared to just five for the Bearcats.

Binghamton scored quickly to start the second half, cutting UAlbany's lead to 10-6.  The Great Danes scored each of the next six goals to go up 17-6 with 6:17 to go.  During this stretch, Zapolski scored her fourth goal, and Hailey Carroll scored a hat trick in seven-and-a-half minutes of game time.

The Bearcats finally broke the Danes' run with 4:53 remaining, the first of two-straight to cut the UAlbany lead to 17-8.  UAlbany proceeded to score each of the final two, from Teagan Canning and Kadi Futia, to bring the final score to 19-8.

Zapolski and Conway led all scorers with four goals each.  Conway added two assists and Zapolski had one.  Carroll finished with three goals and one assist, while Kendra Harbinger and Kathryn Sancilio both scored twice.  In goal, Georgia Schneidereith recorded 12 saves, nine of which came in the first half.  As a team, UAlbany outshot Binghamton 16-12 in the second half.

Next: Following four-straight games on the road, the Great Danes finally return to Tom & Mary Casey Stadium on Wednesday, April 3 to host Vermont.
