Meet: Vermont Season Opener

Team Scoring: Women – 2nd (30 points); Men – 2nd (53 points)

Short Story: The UAlbany men and women placed second in the team competition while sweeping the individual titles in the 2018 season opener at the University of Vermont.

How it happened

• Hannah Reinhardt won the women's race in 17:43.60, 30 seconds ahead of runner-up Cara Sherman, who finished in 18:13.50
• Newcomers Kelly Iocca and Noreen Guilfoyle each earned top-10 finishes
• The women's scoring gap was one minute and 28 seconds
• Vermont's women won the team title by two points
• Victor Ortiz Rivera won the men's race in 25:22.90, gapping the field by more than 30 seconds
• Junior Charlie Ragone also placed in the top-10
• The men's scoring gap was two minutes and nine seconds
• Vermont's men placed their top five scorers in the top seven finishers, including second through fifth
