Baseball Visits St. John's, Hosts Manhattan

ALBANY, N.Y. – After hosting its first America East series of the season, the University at Albany baseball team will play mid-week games at St. John's and home against Manhattan on back-to-back days starting tomorrow.

UAlbany (10-14, 2-7 AE) hosted Hartford over the weekend, looking for its first America East series win. Previously, the Great Danes dropped two of three at UMass Lowell when the teams played in Rhode Island, and then dropped three of three at Maine last weekend. Against Hartford, UAlbany pulled off a 10-9 victory in the 10th inning to open the series, but fell in the next two. The victory in game one snapped a six-game losing streak for the Great Danes.

St. John's last played three games at Villanova, sweeping the Wildcats. St. John's outscored Villanova 20-5 in three games.

Manhattan will play a doubleheader at Army on Tuesday before visiting Varsity Field on Wednesday. The Japsers spent the weekend across town at Siena, taking two of three from the Saints.

UAlbany is currently seventh in the America East standings, one game behind UMass Lowell for the final spot in the conference tournament. The Great Danes have three games remaining against the Riverhawks, who will come to town for a series starting Saturday, May 5. Stony Brook remains atop the conference standings at 6-3, and is the only team with an overall winning record.

The Great Danes will host Stony Brook for three games this weekend following this week's two non-conference games.
