Women’s Basketball Hosts Maine On Senior Day

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women's basketball program (15-11, 9-4 AE) will host its final regular season home game of the 2016-17 season on Saturday when Maine visits in the second of two scheduled rematches between last year's America East finalists.  The Great Danes will also honor the four seniors on the roster, Cassandra Edwards, Aubrey Hernandez, Bailey Hixson, and Imani Tate, during a postgame ceremony.

UAlbany last visited UMBC, the team who earlier this year ended the Great Danes' 24-game winning streak.  Riding a six-game winning streak entering the game, UAlbany fell once more the UMBC by a score of 63-60.  The Danes held an eight-point lead at the end of the first quarter, and led by as many as 14 in the first half before UMBC outscored UAlbany by 10 in the third quarter to tie the game at 48 and ultimately go on to win by three.

Maine last played at home against New Hampshire, falling to the Wildcats 65-57.  Before that, Maine had won three straight after previously alternating wins and losses in its prior eight games.

UAlbany now is third in the America East standings, having been jumped by UMBC following the loss to the Retrievers.  Though the teams share matching 9-4 records in-conference, UMBC holds a 2-0 advantage over UAlbany in head-to-head play.  New Hampshire remains atop the standings with a 12-1 record, and Maine trails one spot behind UAlbany, but the Black Bears remain two games back in the loss column.

Season tickets are currently on sale, starting as low as $50.  For more information, visit ualbanysports.com/tickets, call the ticket office at 518-442-DANE, or email the ticket office at GreatDaneTickets@albany.edu.
