Heuser, McConville, Voormolen Earn ECAC All-Star Honors

CENTERVILLE, MASS. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) named Paula Heuser the ECAC Division I Rookie of the Year, while Corrine McConville earned All-ECAC First Team accolades and Daphne Voormolen was selected to the All-ECAC Second Team.
Heuser was the first freshman for UAlbany to garner All-America honors, and the first Great Dane to earn an ECAC player of the year award. The freshman was also named to the ECAC Second Team. She was named to the All-America Second Team after being named the America East Rookie and Midfielder of the Year. It was the first time in the league's history that a player has earned both awards in the same season. The midfielder was named the America East Rookie of the Week six times, and was the league's leader in points (45) and goals (17) as a freshman. Heuser now is UAlbany's Division I leader in goals and points. She became the UAlbany program all-time top single-season rookie scorer with two goals against UMass Lowell in the final game of the regular season. Heuser was a unanimous selection to the America East All-Rookie and All-Conference First Team this past season.
McConville was named to the ECAC First Team after being named NFHCA All-Region and All-America East for the fourth consecutive year following the 2013 season. She is just the second Great Dane to garner All-America honors twice in her career. The senior scored nine goals and recorded six assists this past season. She earned All-America Second Team honors in 2011, and was the third Great Dane to earn All-America status in the Division I era. She was 16-for-17 on penalty strokes in her career, and tops the minutes leaderboard all-time at UAlbany with 5,816 minutes played. McConville ranks third all-time with 43 career goals and tied for third with 101 career points. She was the 2010 America East Rookie of the Year, as well as the 2010 league tournament Most Outstanding Performer. In her rookie season she was also named to the All-America East Second Team and All-Tournament team. McConville started every game of her career, becoming the program's all-time leader in career games played and started with 84.
In addition to her ECAC honors, Voormolen was named to the NFHCA All-Region team for the second-straight year, and tops the Division I program leaderboard in career points (117) and goals (48). She scored an all-time single-game high five goals in a 9-0 win over Sacred Heart this past season. The forward scored 15 goals to go with 10 assists in 2013. Voormolen was the 2012 America East Tournament Most Outstanding Performer and the conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Year. She was selected as the America East Offensive Player of the Year this season, and was named to the All-America East First Team. Voormolen is a four-time America East All-Conference honoree. In addition to her accomplishments on the field, the forward was also named to the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad in 2012 and the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll.
