KEY STATS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter saw just three total shots between the two teams, only one of which belonged to a Great Dane.
- UAlbany averaged three shots a quarter in the second, third, and fourth.
- After 25 minutes of action, Jette Kurz scored the first goal of the contest. Dribbling the ball down the field on her own, she ran on the wing from the 25-yard line, turned towards the center into the circle, and sent a reverse shot right past the defenders and into the net.
- In the third quarter, with just over a minute remaining, Tessa Overgoor scored the second goal on a big assist from Sophia Schoonmaker. The senior puts down big defensive moves to steal the ball and take it from the Great Danes' defensive circle to the other side of the field. With about five yards remaining, Schoonmaker fakes the goalie and passes to Overgoor who shoots the ball on an empty net.
- Sealing the win for UAlbany, Emma Staron scored the third goal in the 54th minute of play. Lillian Willis brought the ball from the corner of the field to the circle and passed it to Staron who was ready for the ball closer to the goalie. With a redirect, Staron shot the ball into the opposite corner for the score.
NEXT: The Great Danes will return home to host Northeastern for their Breast Cancer Awareness Day on Sunday (October 12).
