ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany field hockey's
Jenna Zunic was honored by the America East, Tuesday.
A native of Johnson City, N.Y., Zunic was named the Defensive Player of the Week. Zunic helped to hold Bryant to just two shots on goal in a 3-0 shutout on Friday (Oct. 10). She went on to score the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Northeastern on Sunday (Oct. 12).
Zunic's award is one of three awards given out by the America East Conference each week. This is the first career weekly award for Zunic. As a team, the Great Danes have earned five AE weekly awards - Offensive Player of the Week (9.3 -
Pilar Lorenzini), Defensive Player of the Week (9.23 -
Mara Küskes; 10.7 -
Emma Peeters; 10.14 -
Jenna Zunic), and Rookie of the Week (10.7 -
Jette Kurz).
The Great Danes will be back in action on Friday at Vermont before returning home to host Yale (Oct. 19).
