Cambridge, Mass. - Junior pitcher Greg Lutton was named to the 2011 America East Conference All-Academic Baseball Team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. It is Lutton's second-straight appearance on the squad.
Lutton, a left-handed reliever from New Haven, Vt., posted a 3.38 cumulative grade point average in business administration. Lutton recorded a 4.85 ERA this season with a 3-0 record out of the bullpen. He made a team-high 19 appearances, and struck out 13 opposing batters in 29 and two-thirds innings of work. Lutton has also been a member of the America East Honor Roll and the UAlbany Athletics Honor Roll.
All-academic squads for team sports are based on the number of athletes that participate in a contest at one time, but can be more if there is a tie in voting. To be nominated for the distinction, student-athletes must be a starter or an important reserve and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's games or competitions. In the classroom, student-athletes must have a 3.30 GPA and have completed at least one calendar year at their institution. Freshmen are not eligible for consideration.
