LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Two Great Danes have been named All-Northeast Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), announced Thursday.

Katie Parisi each garnered a spot on one of the three All-Region teams.

Coming off an America East Second Team All-Conference season,
Julia Pike has been named NFCA Second Team All-Region as a Pitcher/Utility player. Quickly earning her way into and to the top of the lineup, she capped her rookie season with an All-Tournament Team nod. As a batter, she hit over .300 with 37 hits, including seven doubles and four home runs, 31 runs scored, 10 RBI, and 14 stolen bases. In the circle, she finished top five in the AE in ERA having pitched 77.1 innings, including a complete game victory at the AE Championship Tournament. With a batting average against of just .258, she started nine games and recorded 10 wins.Â

Recently named the America East Rookie of the Year,
Katie Parisi earned a Third Team All-Region honor as an outfielder. Third in the conference with a .395 batting average, she broke both the UAlbany and America East record with a nation-best 25 doubles this season. Of her 58 total hits, over half of them saw extra bases with an additional two triples and six home runs. The rookie also drove in 45 runs, second-best in the conference, and scored 32 runs with 11 stolen bases. As of the end of the Great Danes' season, Parisi is on track to break the NCAA Division I record for doubles per game. Veronica Harris (Chicago State, 1987) currently holds the record for doubles per game in a single season at .55 (11 in 20 games). Parisi is currently leading the nation with .56 doubles per game this year.Â

The Division I All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of postseason awards to come from the NFCA over the next several weeks. Next to be announced is the Freshman of the Year on May 26. This announcement will be followed by the NFCA All-American teams (May 27), and Regional Coaching Staffs of the Year and Pitcher & Player of the Year in June.
