ALBANY, N.Y. – The #5 UAlbany men's basketball team is set to visit #4 UMass Lowell on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Air Force Reserve America East Men's Basketball Playoffs.

GREAT DANES IN THE AMERICA EAST

  • The Great Danes finished the regular season 11-20 overall and 7-9 in America East play to earn the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament.
  • UAlbany closed the regular-season, finishing 3-3 in its final six games entering postseason play.
  • They earned one of their most notable victories of the season on February 19, defeating then No. 1-seeded NJIT, 81-63, on the road in Newark, N.J.
  • UAlbany also pushed regular-season champions UMBC to the final possessions in Baltimore, falling 66-62 in a four-point contest.
  • Several of UAlbany's conference games came down to the final minutes, reflecting the competitive nature of America East play throughout the season.

  • The Great Danes tied with UMBC for the conference lead in field goal percentage, shooting 46.9 percent from the field.
  • UAlbany leads the league in assists per game (14.0) and fastbreak points, averaging 10.9 per contest.
  • The Great Danes also rank second in the conference and inside the top 100 nationally in blocks per game at 3.87.
  • From three-point range, UAlbany ranks third in the America East with a .333 three-point field goal percentage.

  • Amir Lindsey has paced the Great Danes throughout the season, leading the America East with 524 total points and averaging 17.5 points per game.
  • Lindsey has logged heavy minutes for UAlbany, averaging 37.4 minutes per game while shooting .443 from the field and .343 from three-point range.
  • He also ranks second in the conference with 146 assists, averaging 4.9 assists per game, while posting a 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.

  • Since UMass Lowell joined the America East in 2014, the Great Danes have held a 14-12 advantage in conference match ups.
  • The River Hawks swept the two meetings during the 2025-26 regular season and have won six of the last 10 meetings. against the Great Danes
  • UAlbany's last win over UML came on February 13, 2025, with a 90-88 OT win in UMass Lowell.

ON THE HORIZON
  • With a win over UMass Lowell, the Great Danes would advance to the America East semifinals.
  • As the No. 5 seed, UAlbany would travel to face the highest remaining seed among the other quarterfinal winners or host if they are one of the two highest remaining seeds available.
  • Possible semifinal opponents include No. 1 UMBC, No. 2 NJIT, or No. 3 Vermont, depending on the results of the other quarterfinal match ups.
  • The semifinals and championship will continue to be hosted at the home arena of the highest remaining seed, with the conference champion earning the America East's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
