Men's Basketball Falls to Maine

Score:  UAlbany 59, Maine 70

Location:  Broadview Center| Albany, N.Y.

Records:  UAlbany (10-19, 6-8 America East), Maine (8-21, 6-8 America East)

Short Story:  The University at Albany men's basketball team dropped its second-to-last regular-season home game to the Black Bears, 70-59, on Thursday night.

Coach  Killings:  "This was an embarrassing loss. We spent three days preparing for their zone and man-to-man coverages, and even though Jaden was unavailable due to a minor hip injury, that's no excuse. They outplayed us for all 40 minutes, and we set the tone early with mistake after mistake, forcing a timeout just a few minutes in. We weren't ready to play, and I'm extremely disappointed in our effort. With 17 turnovers, a lack of pace and grit, and a freshman putting up 22 points and seven rebounds against us, this was completely inexcusable."

Key Stats:

  • Isaac Abidde led the squad with 18 points.
  • Okechukwu Okeke tallied a team-best eight rebounds, followed closely by Abidde with seven. Okeke also picked up three blocks.
