BOSTON - UAlbany softball's freshman
Julia Pike has earned two weekly awards from the America East Conference, announced Tuesday.
A native of Kennebunk, Maine, Pike led her team from the batter's box with nine hits, including three extra-base hits, in 14 at bats and scored a team-high eight runs. In a four-game sweep of Mount St. Mary's, Pike hit with 60% accuracy (6-10), including a grand slam. In addition to her plate appearances, she spent six innings in the circle and threw for one win during at MSM.
For her efforts, Pike was named both the Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week.
This is Pike's first Player of the Week honor and second Rookie of the week award. They follow four from earlier this season: Player -
Mary Kate Murray (Feb. 17); Pitcher -
Hayley Wieczerzak (Mar. 3); and Rookie -
Katie Parisi (Feb. 17) and
Julia Pike (Mar. 3).
The Great Danes will return to action in their first conference series of the season - at Bryant (Mar. 21-22).
