Luncheon-Lowrie, Smith Honored by America East

BOSTON - The University at Albany track and field's men's program has earned two America East weekly awards, as announced Tuesday.

Graduate student Jacob Smith and junior Zhi Luncheon-Lowrie were honored in their respective categories.

Running one of the best times in the nation, Jacob Smith won the 800m at Cornell Invite to be named the Track Athlete of the Week. His 1:49.62 flat-track time was converted to 1:48.08 and is ranked top-25 in the nation, second in the Northeast, and first in the America East.

Jumping the second-best mark in the America East, Zhi Luncheon-Lowrie tabbed a first-place finish in the high jump (2.02m) at the Cornell Invite. His jump is second only to his own 2.03m jump earlier this season. He was named the Field Athlete of the Week for his efforts.

Smith and Luncheon-Lowrie's awards mark the second and third for the men's track and field team.

Both track and field programs will return to action this weekend.
