BOSTON - The UAlbany track and field teams have been selected second in the 2025-26 America East Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Poll, the league announced Thursday.
For the women, UAlbany totaled 59 points with four first-place votes. The 2026 America East Indoor Track and Field Champions, UMBC earned 60 points, with four first-place votes, for first place. Bryant tallied the final first-place vote and rounded out the top three with 52 points. See below for the full preseason poll rankings.
The UAlbany women have the longest active championship meet win streak in the nation. The Great Danes have won the America East Outdoor Track and Field Championship each time it has been competed since 2009 (16 consecutive seasons). The women also won in 2006 and 2007. On average, the women win by over 50 points and often surpass the runner-up by nearly 100 points. In 2025, the Great Danes won by a margin of 59 points over New Hampshire with nine event champions, 17 medalists, and 27 scorers.
On the men's side, the Great Danes totaled 59 points with three first-place votes. The 2026 America East Indoor Track and Field Champions, UMass Lowell was voted to first with 60 points and five first-place votes. UMBC rounded out the top three with 50 points. The UAlbany men brought the trophy back to the Capital Region for the first time since 2022 last season. Winning by a margin of 18.5 points, the Great Danes had six event champions, 14 medalists, and 31 scorers. UAlbany's men's team won their first outdoor championship in 2003 and have won 18 titles in the 21 championships competed since.
